Did you have a wonderful winter holiday? We did! It was stressful and restful, a little bit of everything!
But, we've been back for a week, and we've been VERY busy! First, I know you all have been waiting in anticipation for the new items, so let's show those off first!
We've got some items surrounding the 'celebration' theme! And a few winter related items!
I'm still very partial to those trees at the very top!
Speaking of being partial to items:
I want this item and here's why Contest!
We've got a new contest running! Basically, all you need to do is take a look through the new items here, and tell us why you want that item! It can be for any reason! You want a Cheery Fellow welcoming your customers at the door, you want to surround your chocolates with delicate Snowy Birches, or you want to invite your customers to one of your glasses of sparkling apple juice!
All you'll need to do is write up a small reason why, be sure to provide us with your facebook ID number.
To locate and send us your user ID number, click on your user name that takes you to your personal wall. Then copy and paste the URL address that you see in your browser into the body of your reply e-mail. The address will have your id number that will look similar to this:
If your user ID number is not displayed in your browser you may place your mouse over your profile image after which your Facebook User ID number will be displayed in the bottom left corner of your browser window.
If we don't receive an actual number for the facebook ID we won't be able to offer you your prize! So be very sure to give your User ID number, not your facebook URL!
On Friday, the 14th, we'll select 20 winners from the group of participants, and send you the item!
So, send your emails, reasons, and ID Numbers to email@example.com!
See you soon, Chocolatiers! And happy 2011!

Happy Friday Chocolatiers!
This week's Friday Note is all about NEW. New items, new recipes, new levels, and a new Machine.
Before we get into that though, please allow me to present the winner of this week's Decorating Contest!
Decorating Contest Winner
Congratulations to Elliksander!
His very cool Shoppe won the hearts of the C:SS team and, as a result, we'll be putting Elliksander's Shoppe into the game as one of our upcoming loading screens.
He'll also be getting 20 PlayFunds! Thanks for playing, Elliksander, we loved your Shoppe.
We received a lot of really great submissions. Unfortunately, some of them didn't fulfill all the requirements for this contest and had to be deleted.
If you're interested in winning 20 PF and becoming a part of C:SS, feel free to read the contest description here: Decorating Contest
Happy Friday Chocolatiers!
This week flew by! And the weather? Ridiculous! I'm sure it's different where you live but here we had our first two days of real summer, two days ago, and now it's all rain and fog again.
Ah, San Francisco, we love you too.
From the Application Page:
Did you see the egg? Did you? You should have, it's 10 feet tall!
Your responses to it were pretty great, too.
We're putting you in the game! Ok, we're putting your Shoppe into the game but we want you to design it.
You see loading screens that we've created, using in-game items, every time you play but, really, we'd rather see what you can do.
We know you're creative and we know you love C:SS so show us what you've got! But please, be sure to follow the rules below.
How does it work?
Every Monday we'll ask the community to send screenshots of their Shoppes. (Obviously, this week is an exception.)
The Chocolatier: Sweet Society team will choose their favorite and put it into the game for everyone to see as a loading screen.
We'll also make an announcement to all C:SS fans and feature your name (first name only) and your Shoppe in that week's Friday Note.
If you want us to provide a link to your profile just let us know, it's a great way to get a lot of neighbors pretty quickly.
Happy Friday Chocolatiers!
You ready for the weekend? What will you be getting into? We had a big week; lots of new items came out and Elegance as well!
We also had some very, very interesting discussions on the App Page. Wanna see?
What's your favorite chocolate beverage?
Amberdawn Anderson: Allergic to chocolate :'/
(Sorry to hear that. Good thing digital chocolates are hypoallergenic!)
Linda L. Lancaster: hot chocolate of course.....
Hey there, Chocolatiers!
We're happy to introduce the latest improvement on the Prestige system.
We're even happier to finally bring you a sneak peak at a new feature that we'll call, for now, Intra-continental Traversement.
Now, please allow us to introduce...
So, why the name-change? Well, Prestige was one of the biggest features in the game and, according to players, it was a bit confusing.
The shift to Elegance makes more sense and will stream-line the feature, making it easier to understand and, as a result, more fun to interact with.
This also allows us to add something new to the mix as well as set the foundation for another exciting new feature that we won't be mentioning today but is planned for a future release.
Browsing the comments, there are lots of questions like, "Why do things keep changing?" and "Why is this broken?".
These are important questions, possibly the most important questions and it's time we answered them for all the new folks.
This'll be the third time we’ve shared this with you and, given that it’s been over a month since the last time anyone’s seen this and because we’ve gotten so many new players lately, it’s good to get it out there again.
On May 20th, Chocolatier: Sweet Society entered Open Beta. (The Closed Beta was mostly internal and not publicly announced.) So, what is Open Beta? And, more importantly, what does it mean for you?
This week's Friday Note is getting a bit of a snip to make room for an explanation regarding the new way Display Cases will work.
This change will go in on August 2nd (at the earliest).
Display Case Limits
The number of Display Cases purchased with coins will now be limited by the player’s level. Cases bought with PF do not count toward the maximum.
To help compensate for these changes players will get XP by cleaning dirty cases, and the average capacity for coin bought cases will be doubled.
Also, cases will now “store” coins from the purchases customers make at them. More on that in just a bit.
Update (Aug. 3rd): If you're already over the Display Case limit implemented for your current level, you will not lose Display Cases that are already on your Shoppe floor.
They'll remain there until you drag them to your inventory bar. If you do that, your case will not be deleted but you won't be able to put it back into your Shoppe until you're the appropriate level.
The only exception to this are Display Cases that were purchased with PlayFunds.
Update (Aug. 4th):
Due to time constraints, we are delaying rolling out the aspects mentioned below, under General Description. These features will be written in red text until we add them in.
One of the perks of working on a game based entirely on the making, selling, and consuming of chocolate is all that, in the course of regular business, we are sometimes compelled to consume the object of our own creation.
People have called it "snacking" but we prefer the term "market research".
Last week, a few of us were up in Seattle (the Space Needle is suitably magnificent and Rainier Tower defies explanation) for Casual Connect. For the occasion, we whipped up a custom-made surprise to hand out during the event.
We brought them chocolates! Chocolates with our name on them! Delicious and, we think, utterly appropriate.
As their site says, Casual Connect is:
Casual Games Association Events are the premiere events for the casual games industry with over 3,000 professionals attending Casual Connect Events each year. Casual Connect Seattle brings together the most talented and knowledgeable experts in the casual gaming field to further the casual games industry with the best of networking and learning.
That means that far too few (if any) of our players got their hands on these little delights but we wanted to share them with you as best we could.
Check 'em out!
